ChatGPT: Should We Use It?

For my Module 5 assignment, I chose to use ChatGPT to generate a response to a prompt I suggested. The question I asked was… why is it important to stay in touch with your database as a real estate agent? I was given a very “generic” response that had some inaccurate information. ChatGPT had suggested things throughout the response that were not true for every situation. In one sentence, ChatGPT suggested that most real estate transactions have long cycles, which in today’s booming market is not the case. Since the prompt I asked was very broad, ChatGPT’s response was also very broad with little to no statistical evidence provided. When I went back and revised the generated response, I changed the verbiage, and I added a statistic to emphasize the importance of keeping in touch with your past clients.

From doing this exercise, I learned just how important it is to create engaging content. When I was reading through the generated response from ChatGPT, I noticed that it kept repeating the same ideas over and over again and the overall response was repetitive and uninteresting. It was hard to grab the attention of the reader with such a general answer to the prompt. I do have to admit that the information that was provided from ChatGPT was for the most part accurate to other sources I examined, but that can also be attributed to the openness of the initial prompt. I would trust this software to write a response to a more opinionated question, but I would be more hesitant asking it to generate a response with factual statistics and information.
